Downtown Raleigh Engagement Session

Y’all, Raleigh, Kristen and Nathan have stolen my heart. These three go together like chips, salsa and queso; they were meant to be. And I’m not just saying that because those are my three favorite foods.

Last summer, YoBa in Raleigh held a fundraiser to raise money for their friend and fellow YoBie as she kicks cancer’s bootie. We donated a session as part of the fundraiser and Kristen won! Woohoo! Jordan and I met Kristen and Nathan in Raleigh on Sunday right before sunset. As we got to know each other they mentioned they had only been photographed as a couple once before and they didn’t know if they would be the best models. Uhm, they were so wrong. These two could not keep their hands off of each other or stop laughing their whole session. I would walk away to change a lens and look back and they were snuggled up just chatting about life as I yelled “don’t move, y’all are perfect!!”.

Kristen and Nathan call Raleigh their home but soon Mexico will also hold a special place for them because they are eloping in just a few weeks! Jordan and I are wishing these two love birds a lifetime of love and adventures.

let's get to know each other

ABOUT Jess

That longing to hold onto everyday magic is what led me to photography. I’m drawn to the little things that often go unnoticed—the way excitement shows up in a child’s eyes, the comfort of being close, the feeling of togetherness that turns ordinary days into meaningful memories. When I’m not photographing families, you’ll find me thrifting for treasures, reading a good book, embroidering something by hand, soaking up beach days, or heading off on small adventures with the people I love most.

I approach each session with care and intention, focusing on connection rather than perfection. My goal is to create images that feel honest, warm, and deeply personal—photographs that allow you to return to this season again and again, remembering not just what it looked like, but how it felt.

Rooted in motherhood and shaped by my own journey into parenthood, I’m endlessly inspired by the quiet beauty of family life. I love slow mornings at home with my family—the kind filled with soft light, small rituals, and the tiny moments that send my daughter into fits of belly laughter. Those are the moments I wish I could freeze in time, the ones that remind me how fleeting and beautiful this season truly is.
