I am so stoked to share Michaela and Matt’s Summer Wedding at Amelia Grove on the blog today. Michaela and I bonded over our love for TSwift. If you’ve ever scrolled through my website you’ll see that there are song lyrics in the header of each page including some from the queen herself. When Michaela reached out to inquire about their wedding that was the first thing she mentioned. I even made a fun playlist for Michaela and Matt’s engagement session full of the most romantic TSwift songs. Mainly so we could sing along together of course haha. Obviously one of my favorite moments from their wedding day was getting to jam out to ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ with Michaela and Tamara from Down to I Do.

I just love how Michaela and Matt met. Their story is so cute that of course, Matt asked for a photo on the wedding day to honor their story. Here is how Michaela describes the night they met: “That night, probably trying to show off, he decided to jump into the tree which got us all promptly kicked out of the bar- classic! It was then that I knew that he was the one, I mean how could he NOT be? We traded numbers that night but I couldn’t remember his name. So of course, I put him in as “Tree Jumper”. Since then he has always been my tree jumper in my contact list. Flash forward… In July of 2020, I decided to relocate and move to Beaufort for a change. I got a job in Carteret County Schools as a 5th-grade teacher and moved down to Beaufort. We found a place together- just in time! And since then we have been laughing, sailing, swimming. kayaking, eating, singing, napping, biking, drinking, living, and loving, ever since.”

Shoutout as always to the amazing vendor team who helped create and beautiful wedding day for Michaela and Matt. Here is a highlight from their day!

ABOUT Jess

That longing to hold onto everyday magic is what led me to photography. I’m drawn to the little things that often go unnoticed—the way excitement shows up in a child’s eyes, the comfort of being close, the feeling of togetherness that turns ordinary days into meaningful memories. When I’m not photographing families, you’ll find me thrifting for treasures, reading a good book, embroidering something by hand, soaking up beach days, or heading off on small adventures with the people I love most.

I approach each session with care and intention, focusing on connection rather than perfection. My goal is to create images that feel honest, warm, and deeply personal—photographs that allow you to return to this season again and again, remembering not just what it looked like, but how it felt.

Rooted in motherhood and shaped by my own journey into parenthood, I’m endlessly inspired by the quiet beauty of family life. I love slow mornings at home with my family—the kind filled with soft light, small rituals, and the tiny moments that send my daughter into fits of belly laughter. Those are the moments I wish I could freeze in time, the ones that remind me how fleeting and beautiful this season truly is.
